Full scope through to commissioning
Design, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning were all in our scope. On a 60 tonne crane that single-vendor scope is worth having: the party that calculated the wheel loads is the same party that aligns the rails and runs the load test, so there is no gap between what was designed and what was accepted.
Why double girder at this capacity
At 60 tonnes the crab has to run on rails on top of two box girders — a single girder configuration cannot carry the load or give the hook height. The double girder arrangement also carries the walkway and the access needed to maintain a crane of this size safely.
